Hospital information

Rather amusingly all the pre-printed information which the hospital have given me about hernia surgery and recovery afterwards assumes you are a man having a groin hernia repaired!

That is weird. Especially since I think that's a minority of hernias. {Smile}

The nurse practitioner who did my pre-op clerk said that the majority of what they do at this hospital is men's groins and that therefore the pre-produced information is set up for that.

That's interesting. I guess it makes sense... but I wonder why those are so common. {Smile}

I expect they are the most common hernias :-) I hope you are recovering well. Take it easy ~gentle hug~

Certainly at my pre-op appointment they said that umbilical are a tiny minority of what they do. In fact, when I was looking for information on the web pretty well everything about umbilical hernias related to babies not their mothers! Several health professionals have told me it's a reasonably common complication of pregnancy, particularly in larger women.

On the recovering front I'm taking it as easy as an active 14 month old will allow!

Apparently abdominal hernias are the most common, according to wikipedia and the ratio male to female for hernia operations is 12:1 :-)
